The full-colour icon carries the hero and the apple touch icon, where it sits next to real app icons. The monochrome mark takes the nav and the favicon: at 32px against a blurred bar it belongs behind the wordmark rather than competing with it. The hero asset is re-encoded on the way in — the source is an unoptimised 382 KB for a 512px square.
